Privacy Policy

Style Assist is a wardrobe intelligence and personal styling service operated by Hiking Dog Productions, based in Montclair, New Jersey ("we," "us," "Style Assist"). This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We keep it short and plain on purpose. Questions: anuj.uppal@gmail.com.

Information we collect

Account information. Your email address, and the authentication identifier from your sign-in provider (Google or Apple) if you use one. We never see or store your Google or Apple password.
Wardrobe content. The photos of your clothing you upload, along with the attributes attached to each piece (category, color, material, formality, season, notes), your saved outfits, and the wear logs you record.
Usage data. Product analytics events — for example which pages you open, when you build or log an outfit, and how often you return — used to understand and improve the service.
Payment information. If you subscribe, your card details are collected and processed directly by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number. We retain only a Stripe customer reference and your subscription status.

How we use your information

To provide the service: store your wardrobe, build outfits, track wear, and generate styling suggestions.
To generate AI styling recommendations (see "AI processing" below).
To process subscriptions, trials, and payments.
To send you essential account and authentication emails (sign-in links, receipts, service notices).
To understand product usage and improve features.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your wardrobe photos or data for advertising.

AI processing

When you ask for a styling suggestion, the relevant details of your wardrobe (such as the attributes of your pieces and your recent wear history) are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to generate a recommendation. Under Anthropic's commercial API terms, this data is not used to train their models. AI suggestions are advisory only — style is subjective, and the recommendations are a starting point, not a guarantee.

Service providers

We share data only with the providers that make the service run:

Supabase — database, authentication, and photo storage.
Stripe — subscription payments and billing.
Anthropic — AI styling recommendations.
Resend — delivery of authentication and account emails.
Vercel — hosting for the application.
Cloudflare — hosting and DNS for this website.

Each provider receives only the data needed to perform its function, and is bound by its own security and privacy obligations. We may also disclose information if required by law.

Data storage and security

Your data is stored on infrastructure located in the United States. Access is protected by authentication and database-level access controls so that you can reach your own wardrobe and no one else's. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we will remove your wardrobe content and personal data, except where we are required to retain certain records (for example, billing records for tax and accounting purposes).

Your rights

You can access, correct, export, or delete your data. You can edit or remove individual pieces and outfits directly in the app. To request a full export or deletion of your account, email anuj.uppal@gmail.com and we will action it within a reasonable period. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act or the GDPR; we honor those requests on the same basis.

Cookies and local storage

We use only the cookies and local storage necessary to keep you signed in and to run the app. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Children

Style Assist is intended for adults aged 18 and over. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email.
